Graduated Med-Line August 2008

I started attending Med-Line School of Medical Transcription in September 2006.  I would recommend this course for anyone.  It is a very advanced course including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, laboratory, grammar and punctuation, and human diseases.  The school is more advanced than many of the schools I checked on.  After the academic portion of the program was completed, I started the transcription tapes, which included beginning and advanced.  Maggie and Angela are great to work with.  I have never called to ask a question when the phone was not answered.  All the emails are always answered in a timely manner.  When I was discouraged and thought “I just cannot do this,” the encouragement that I needed to get through was there.

The training and the internship are unbelievable.  The internship is a paid internship, and fortunately for me, my internship turned into a job.  The internship started out being clinic notes and then hospital transcription.  When I graduated in August 2008, the knowledge and wide range of specialty experience I had was amazing.  The internship included specialties of endocrinology, internal medicine, pediatrics, pulmonary, cardiology, rheumatology, family medicine, gastroenterology, and orthopedics.  I then moved to surgery and operative notes for a hospital in Boston.  Then I received experience in hospital transcription, which included discharge summaries, history and physicals, and consultations.  As you can see, the wide variety of experience you receive in an internship is incredible.

I would recommend Med-Line School to anyone who is thinking about entering the field of medical transcription.  It is a very pleasant and rewarding experience, and the work is certainly there.

Graduated Med-Line October 2007

I wish to thank Med-Line for providing such a well-rounded curriculum.  The educational materials were excellent and included a wide range of medial knowledge and terminology that is required for this rewarding and challenging career.  My instructor, Maggie Armbruster, is a seasoned Certified Medical Transcriptionist who has acquired a depth of medical knowledge through years of actual medical transcription work experience, which I consider very important for an instructor to have.  Feedback was continual and very beneficial all through the course work.  After working 17 years in the IT field, I found that my true passion is the medical field and medical transcription has allowed me to satisfy my interest in medical knowledge, to obtain more fulfillment in my work, and the flexibility of working from home.   Thank you Med-Line for preparing me for this great career.  I currently work for OmniScribe, and my next goal is to get certified as a Registered Medical Transcriptionist.

Update:  Candace joined Med-Line School’s credentialing study group.  She took her RMT exam on June 24, 2009 and passed.  Congratulations Candace!!

Graduated Med-Line August 2008, Preparing for RMT

I would like to thank you personally and Med-Line School for providing the opportunity for me to become a medical transcriptionist!  I came to Med-Line after having completed another transcription course that had not prepared me for what I would be facing out there in the real world of transcription.  After not being able to find work, I found you and Med-Line.

When I received the first book and materials, I could immediately see that the other company did not even have the appropriate teaching materials.  The books that Med-Line provides are exceptional in laying the foundation in words and terms that a transcriptionist uses every day.  I still refer to them!  However, I believe the one thing that made the biggest difference in my being able to do the course work and begin working is the fact that people, real live people, were constantly there to answer questions, help with the transcription, make me accountable, and gently correct and encourage!!

I looked into transcription because of a family member who was doing it and loving every minute of it.  I also was interested because I have two children at home, and while they are teenagers, they still need me to be at ballgames and their events.  Working from home allows me the freedom to work and still be able to be there for them.  This is a fantastic job for anyone who needs that flexibility!

Finally, Maggie, you and Angela and Med-Line, have made a difference in my life and in my family.  I needed to work to make ends meet, but no one in my family wanted me to leave to do that.  This career has made everyone happy and no one more than me!  Thank you for your diligence, encouragement, instruction, and more than anything your personal attention and care!!

I've had the pleasure of knowing Maggie since 2003 and have seen her and some of her team in action, as well as working with some of them in different capacities.  They are devoted to education, employment, and careers for health care documentation specialists.  Med-Line is an approved program by AHDI.  Maggie maintains and updates curriculum as changes and demands of the industry continues to grow, always staying current on health care documentation needs, requirements, and industry trends and issues.  Students graduate from Med-Line ready for the workforce, having been thoroughly trained and guided through a working internship.  I have the pleasure of working with Maggie and her team for EMR OmniScribe.  In my observation in working and providing QA services for EMR OmniScribe, it is apparent that Med-Line students have been provided the skill set to succeed as healthcare documentation specialists.  I personally thank you Med-Line and EMR OmniScribe for being leaders in the health care documentation industry and encouragement you have given me to become a CMT.

Update:  Brenda joined and helped run Med-Line School’s credentialing study group.  She took her CMT exam on June 26, 2009 and passed.  Congratulations Brenda!!

Graduated Med-Line July 2006

I had been searching for a career that would fit both my interest in language and medicine while at the same time providing flexibility to enable me to meet the needs of my family.  After much searching online, I came across Med-Line’s website and contacted Maggie.  I enrolled in the class in March of 2005.  My experience with the class couldn’t have been better.  The course itself was very comprehensive, and Maggie’s feedback was always constructive and prompt.  It took me until July 2006 to complete the class, but this was while I continued to work full-time and had a baby.  I’ve been working with a transcription company as an independent contractor since I completed the class.  I feel the Med-Line course fully prepared me for performing on-the-job.  I would not hesitate to recommend Med-Line to anyone looking for a quality, affordable program.  As with any self-study program, a successful student needs to be motivated and able to work independently, but there was always plenty of help available when needed.

Past Intern,  Currently working as a Contractor, Preparing for RMT

When I decided to pursue medical transcription as a career, I did some basic research on MT schools and picked one that had a reputation of being a top school, Career Step.  Their curriculum was great, but their student support was a bit lacking.  The few times I did try to contact student support, it was days before receiving a response.   As I went through the course, I felt like I was pretty much on my own.

While awaiting the scores from my final exam (a 2 week wait), I began my job search.  I kept running into companies that only want to hire experienced medical transcriptionists.  My school does not offer job placement.  They do offer placement assistance which basically means a list of places that have been known to hire their students.  In my quest for a job, I found Med-Line School of Medical Transcription and was given the opportunity to participate in their internship.

This internship has given me actual job experience, prompt feedback, and a paycheck.  I have been able to complete my training and do this internship while being pregnant and at home with a 2-year-old son.    I am very thankful to the companies that participate in this internship.  You are giving us “newbies” the break to get our foot into this industry.  I thank you for allowing me to participate in your school’s internship.

I just wanted to thank everyone there for getting me started with my career.  I have been working for a spine care company near my home (from home) and love it.  It is going very well.  I also worked in the office for a few days to cover for my boss while she was on vacation.

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the help that you gave me in school and also getting my first paying job...

Really appreciated your webinar this morning. I am becoming more familiar with your COSMO program and really enjoy it. This also improves my PC skills. Without this course, I wouldn't be utilizing half the programs on my computer. Med-Line's course has helped me grow in utilization of my PC, as well as getting over the fear of schooling online.

I do have to say that the Webinars are great!  I look forward to attending them.  I am so impressed with Med-Line and what I am learning!  Everyone at Med-Line seems to have such a very high level of professionalism, knowledge and enthusiasm about the field of medical transcription, which is so inspiring and contagious.  My excitement and determination to become a successfully trained medical transcriptionist is not only a priority for me, but also one for Med-Line.  Knowing that your school is not just cranking out diplomas, but actually designed to create highly trained medical transcriptionists is priceless.  I am glad that I did not give up due to insufficient training my first attempt at this field.  Med-Line is a blessing that I am very grateful for, and I am working hard to utilize everything that your school has to offer.  If you do not hear it often, you and your staff are greatly appreciated for all that you do...Thanks!  You are making a difference!

I was thankful the weather blew my work plans and I was able to attend (the new student orientation) because the first thing that was apparent to me, I think, is that the people on the other end of this decision I made seem to be infused with some gusto.  You can't compress that onto a laser disc set.  “I feel good about my choice of school.”
