Electronic patient record designed to be
accessible offsite.

Narrative text

The actual spoken dictation in paragraph
form, as opposed to templated input.

HL7

Global authority on standards for
interoperability of health information
technology.

HITECH ACT

Stronger healthcare privacy standards,
“HIPAA with teeth”

Meaningful Use

EHR criteria that must be me in order to
qualify for government incentives.

Templated EHR

A type of EHR that uses non-narrative input,
often click boxes to input data
